Pittsburgh Pirates Top 30

By Tim Williams

Prior to Ben Cherington's hiring, it was rumored he was primarily interested in a gig where he could rebuild a team from the ground up.

He'll get his wish in Pittsburgh.

After bottoming out at 69-93 in 2019, the Pirates cleaned house, bringing in Cherington to re-chart the future in Pittsburgh. He inherits a system that ranked in the bottom-third at the end of 2019 but is not devoid of interesting pieces.

The top two players -- Mitch Keller and Ke'Bryan Hayes -- are no strangers to the Pirates list, although the order in which they appear has flip-flopped at times. Beyond are a mix of arms with considerable risk and upside, as well as a pair of outfielders with draft pedigree.
