Top College Prospects

Every year scouts chant the same mantra over and over.

“The college bats will come.”

And just as they do every year, as the draft nears, college bats have moved to the top of the draft class. Strong years by Georgia Tech catcher Joey Bart, Wichita State third baseman Alec Bohm, Florida third baseman Jonathan India and others have ensured that college position players will be very well represented at the top of the first round of the 2018 draft.

But all of them will likely hear their names called after a college pitcher. Auburn righthander Casey Mize has turned himself into the clear No. 1 prospect in the draft class. A month before the draft, scouts around the industry would be shocked if Mize isn’t the Tigers pick at 1-1.

The Baseball America Top 250 College Draft Prospects list ranks players at four-year schools. We will continue to update this as we continue to report on how the class lines up.
