Tyreque Reed

Reed has been the talk of the Mississippi junior college circuit this spring as he's finished first in NJCAA Division II batting average (.504) and on-base percentage (638) and second in slugging percentage (.943) thanks to a number of tape-measure home runs as well as surprisingly impressive plate coverage. As a big righthanded-hitting first baseman, Reed has to hit to entice scouts at all, but that's what he's done and he has 70 raw power to go with his impressive stats. He's a Mississippi State commit and scouts may let him join the Bulldogs and try to replace Brent Rooker. Evaluators could be more comfortable after evaluating his bat is against better competition next year, but he's produced enough already to be worth a look this year.
