Stauffer is a massive human being, standing at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds with extremely wide hips and and shoulders. He doesn't show exceptional velocity, but he generates elite extension with extremely long arms and powerful drive off the rubber that leads him to land significantly closer to the plate than most pitchers. His fastball worked at 87-89 mph and touched 91 early in games this spring, dropping to 84-86 later on. Stauffer's slider shows inconsistent shape and low 70s velocity; it grades as a below-average pitch. He has feel for locating his low 80s changeup down in the strike zone. While neither of his pitches looks plus from where the scouts sit, everything plays up due to his size and extension towards home plate. He is committed to St. John's but a team could take a shot at signing him.
