Tim Borden
Name: Timothy Ray Borden
Born: Sep 1, 1999 in Jeffersonville, IN United States
College: Louisville
High School: Louisville
High School: Our Lady of Providence HS, Clarksville, Ind.
Wt.: 200 lbs
Bats: R / Throws: R
Drafted in the 16th round (493rd overall) by the Houston Astros in 2022 (signed for $50,000)
A 37th-round pick of the Guardians in 2018, Borden transferred to Georgia Tech after rarely playing in three seasons at Louisville. Given regular at-bats, Borden blossomed. He played shortstop and second base for the Yellow Jackets, although he’ll be a second baseman in pro ball with emergency capability to play short. He hit .335/.466/.689 with 20 home runs while playing average defense at second base. There’s not a plus tool on Borden’s scouting report, but other than a below-average hit tool, there are a whole lot of 50s. He has an average arm to go with his average defense at second and he’s shown average power and speed as well. Borden’s biggest knock is his age. He’s almost 23 already, which means that a team that drafts him as a senior sign will have to move him aggressively.
