At 6 feet, 200 pounds, Smith is a physical specimen and has one of the best bodies in the high school class. He looks like a football player, though he has never played a down, and offers tremendous strength throughout a chiseled frame with broad shoulders. Smith has a well-rounded skill set, but his bat has not progressed as evaluators hoped. He's an above-average runner in the 60, though his speed plays closer to average. He throws well enough for right field, and his tremendous strength gives him at least average power potential, with more likely down the road. But some scouts think his in-game power is short for a corner outfielder because his swing is geared more toward up-the-middle line drives. He made a good amount of contact on the showcase circuit last summer, but he hit below .300 this spring. Because he offers the raw material to fit a right-field profile, some organizations could take a chance on fixing his set-up and swing, while others would like to see him prove it in college at Miami.
