Nishioka is a neuroscience major at one of the nation's elite colleges with dreams of attending medical school. He also is a mashing second baseman who led NCAA Div. III with 18 home runs and an .882 slugging percentage as a senior. Nishioka's skills are beyond the usual Div. III player--he was recruited by Notre Dame and Harvard to play at the Div. I level but chose to attend Pomona-Pitzer for its pre-med program--and he is an excellent athlete who excelled in three sports in high school. He cemented his status as a legitimate prospect with multiple home runs swinging a wood bat at Angel Stadium during a pre-draft workout. Nishioka is one of the top Div. III prospects available and is an attractive senior sign candidate.
