Scouts may have to add an extra page to their reports to fully document Koenig's medical history, but many of his long list of injuries are fluky. The redshirt senior missed time with bruised lungs after a pitcher's throw to first hit him square in the back and was sidelined last year by a hand injury when he was hit by a pitch. He also has had back, hip and ankle problems in the past. His gait isn't as smooth as it used to be, but he still turns in average run times. More importantly, Koenig adjusted his swing this year to a flatter swing path. It has added a little length to his swing, but his bat stays in the zone longer and has allowed him to drive the ball better in addition to making better contact. Koenig used to play third base, but he's a better fit in a corner outfield spot as he's simply too big (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) to handle every play at third. He has an above-average arm that allows him to play either right or left field.
