Aker transferred to Tampa after two seasons at North Carolina. The 6-foot-2 righthander has plenty of arm strength but he has to tame his control. He walked 30 in 46 innings at North Carolina and 21 in 23 innings in the Cape Cod League last summer. He did show some improvement this season with 23 walks in 46 innings while striking out a batter an inning.
