  Peeples led the New York-Penn League in wins in 2001 and gave up just one earned run in his first three starts at low Class A last year, earning a rapid promotion in April. The Florida State League proved to be too much, too soon for Peeples, who got going again once he returned to the South Atlantic League. Signed as a draft-and-follow out of Middle Georgia, Peeples works as fast as any pitcher in the minors, keeping his fielders on their toes and opposing hitters off balance. While he doesn't have a plus pitch, he refuses to give in to hitters and mixes his offerings well. He throws a high-80s fastball, a sharp slider and a changeup. Improving his curveball would give another weapon. Peeples will get a second chance at high Class A this year.
