Swanson is a quick-twitch athlete with a high ceiling. He struggled to time his above-average bat speed against quality arms on the showcase circuit, but showed improvement in the spring, driving the ball with authority to the gaps and flashing power. Swanson is an average runner and makes all the plays at shortstop. He shows above-average to plus arm strength and could stick at the position long term. Area scouts liken Swanson to North Carolina shortstop Logan Warmoth, who showed promising tools but needed to get stronger and become more consistent. Swanson is committed to Florida State, where he could earn playing time quickly--much like Warmoth did at North Carolina--given that the Seminoles will likely lose two infielders to the draft this spring.
