For two seasons, Forbes was a non-factor for UCLA's baseball team, as he redshirted in the 2013 national championship season, then didn't pitch in 2014. His only action came in the New England Collegiate League in 2013, but heading into regional play, he was UCLA's most consistent power arm in the bullpen, setting up submarine closer David Berg. The 6-foot-8, 235-pound redshirt sophomore harnessed the power in his 90-92 mph fastball that regularly reached 94 mph early in the season. Forbes throws a lots strikes, particularly to his glove side and generally pitches downhill, getting good extension out front and getting on top of hitters. His slider can be in the low 80s and gives him an average pitch that could improve as he throws more. Forbes is intriguing as a low-mileage arm with a pro body and some strength.
