Yet another member of a potentially power-packed Louisville signing class, Burkholder is a somewhat raw, tall righthander with plenty of velocity at his best, but he struggles to maintain it at this stage of his career. He'll touch 93 mph at his best, but he'll also end up sitting 86-89 at times. Burkholder opens up in his delivery too soon at times and his arm speed is only average, but his height (6-foot-6) and long limbs lead some to think there is more velo in there. He also throws a potentially average curveball and a tick-below-average changeup.
