Carter Lovasz

Lovasz is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound righthander from William & Mary who made 60 of his 68 college appearances out of the bullpen. He pitched to a 6.61 ERA with 73 strikeouts and 31 walks over 49 innings in 2025. Lovasz employs an unusual delivery, sinking his body toward the mound and releasing from a very low three-quarters slot, creating deception and angle. His fastball sits at 89-91 mph and topped out at 93 this spring. He pairs it with a slow, sweeping slider in the mid-70s that generated a strong 51% whiff rate. He also mixes in a low-80s changeup with late fade, though it's presently a well below-average third pitch. After showing solid control earlier in his career, Lovasz regressed significantly in 2025, as his walk rate nearly doubled from 6.9% to 13.3%. Despite the control issues, his unique look and breaking ball give him a chance to carve out a role as a reliever at the next level.
