Age At Draft: 21.3
BA Grade: 45/High
Snead established himself as one of Tennessee’s most trusted relievers after transferring into the program from Wichita State prior to the 2024 campaign. The flamethrowing righty produced a 3.67 ERA with 103 strikeouts to 47 walks over 125 innings with the Volunteers over two seasons, including a 4.53 ERA in 49.2 innings in 2025. Snead fires from a three-quarters slot and gets the most out of his 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame. He sits at 96 mph with his fastball and touches 101. Snead’s fastball is his signature pitch and generates impressive carry when kept up and sink when he lands the pitch down in the zone. His heater helped him generate a career-best 51% groundball rate in 2025, while a low-to-mid-80s curveball served as his best miss offering. Snead also has a mid-80s slider, which he occasionally throws harder to give more of a cutter shape that can be located up. He rarely uses his 90-mph changeup. Snead’s scattered control has limited his strikeout numbers over two SEC seasons, but he has always had a sub-10% walk rate and many scouts remain bullish on Snead’s athleticism, arm speed and makeup. Snead has almost exclusively served as a reliever in college and profiles as a bullpen piece in pro ball.

Track Record: Snead transferred to Tennessee in 2024 following a solid freshman campaign at Wichita State and quickly became one of the nation’s most reliable relievers. Over his two years in the Vols’ bullpen, he pitched to a 3.67 ERA over 75 innings with 11 saves. The Angels selected him with a supplemental third-round pick in 2025, signing him under slot for $597,500.
Scouting Report: Snead is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound power arm with a five-pitch arsenal. He relies heavily on his 96-97 mph fastball that can touch 101. The pitch has some late sink from his low three-quarter slinging arm slot that helps generate plenty of groundballs. Snead has a tight, mid-80s slider and a low-90s cutter that touches 94. Both flash average but are inconsistent and can blend together. The quality of his slider regressed as he increased the usage of the cutter. Snead’s low-80s curveball is his best swing-and-miss secondary, and he rarely uses his hard changeup. Snead was a fringy strike-thrower in college, though some scouts think his athleticism and makeup give him a chance to start.
The Future: The Angels plan to develop Snead as a starter, but his scattered strikes and big-time fastball make him a prime candidate to move quickly if he moves to the bullpen.

Snead is a 6-foot-2 righthander who had a strong 2023 freshman season at Wichita State, but in 2024 cemented himself as one of the best relievers in college baseball with Tennessee. Across 75.1 innings, Snead worked a 3.11 ERA with 61 strikeouts. Snead’s calling card is his thunderous heater, which sits in the mid 90s, but has been up to 101 mph with life through the zone. He pairs it with a tight, mid-80s slider, and although it’s inconsistent in shape, it still generates plenty of whiffs and flashes above-average. Snead also mixes in a slider and changeup and could get a chance to start in 2025.
