Drafted in the 6th round (166th overall) by the Houston Astros in 2014 (signed for $250,000)
A transfer who spent his freshman season at West Virginia, the 6-foot-8, 225-pound Dykxhoorn will be one of the bigger players drafted this year, evoking Jon Rauch comparisons. Like Rauch, he's big but not overpowering, pitching at 88-91 mph, toping out at 92 but coming at hitters with a difficult angle and throwing downhill. He has gotten swings-and-misses against junior college competition with both his fringe-average slider and average changeup, and he locates well for a pitcher his size. The Canadian was a 20th-round pick out of high school in 2012 by the Reds but should go 10 rounds higher this time around.
