Jones is a 6-foot, 205-pound righthander with bigtime arm strength. He has a filled out, compact frame with broad shoulders and sits around 94 mph with a fastball that gets up to 97-98. He’s been a two-pitch pitcher in the bullpen this spring and complements the fastball with a mid-80s slider with fringy spin and short-breaking life that needs to be sharpened to become an above-average swing-and-miss secondary. Jones is mostly scattered and projects to stick in the bullpen, but for teams high on his arm strength and power fastball, he could be a day three target. He’ll be 22 on draft day, which puts him on the older end for the college demographic.
