Servais, along with Brian Johnson and Randy Snyder, are considered in a class of their own among the nation’s top catching prospects. Defensively, they have no peers. Servais entered the 1988 season as the consensus No. 1 because of the way he came on with the bat last summer with Team USA at the Pan American Games, but he’s not hitting with anywhere near the power that Johnson is.
