Name: Andrew James Daniel
Born: Jan 27, 1993 in San Diego, CA
High School: San Diego
College: San Diego
Ht.: 6'1" / Wt.: 195 lbs
Bats: R / Throws: R
Drafted in the 11th round (329th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels in 2014
Daniel earned freshman All-America honors in 2012, saw his production dip in 2013, then rebounded with his best season in 2014, hitting .369/.421/.554 with five homers and 43 RBIs. His calling card is his righthanded bat, which projects as a slightly above-average tool thanks to his quick hands and knack for squaring up hard line drives from gap to gap. He also has a chance to grow into average power, although he likely won't mash enough to profile at third base. A well below-average defender two years ago, Daniel's infield actions have improved some, but he still makes a lot of errors (19 this year for a .910 fielding percentage), largely because his footwork needs significant improvement. He has a solid-average arm, and he has shown better running speed this year, even swiping 13 bases in 19 tries. He's still no better than an average runner, but he might be athletic enough to fill a utility role in pro ball. His bat will have to carry him, and it could carry him for a while, because he has a real feel for hitting.
