Brian O'Keefe

A three-year starter for St. Joseph's, O'Keefe overcame an early bout of draftitis to have a strong junior season and could go out as high as the sixth round. He's a strong 6-foot-1, 205-pounder noted for his core strength and arm strength. Together, they allow O'Keefe to often throw runners out from his knees, posting 1.9-second pop times from that position, and he threw out 15-of-34 basestealers (44 percent) as a junior. His receiving and blocking need polish, but O'Keefe is rare as a college catcher who calls his own game. He also ranked among the top 10 in the Atlantic-10 Conference in most batting categories, tying for second with seven homers. His power and arm strength help him fit the backup catcher profile well.
