Etsell is from Philadelphia, where he played on a high school team coached by his father, and then headed south to Florida rather than fulfill his Marshall commitment. He established himself as Hillsborough's best player and best prospect this season thanks to a projectable 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame and impressive ability to throw strikes. He has a fringe-average fastball at 88-89 mph, touching 91, and a solid-average changeup. He doesn't get many swings and misses with his curveball but throws strikes with it. He had a sterling 97-9 strikeout-walk ratio in 101 innings. He's committed to South Florida.
