Bratsen has teased scouts for years with his blazing speed. An eligible sophomore in 2012, he threw out a big signability number and wasn't drafted, and wasn't drafted again last year for signability and ability reasons. He needs to be a leadoff man but never made enough contact earlier in his career, and lacks any power. Bratsen finally made more contact this season, with just 10 strikeouts entering the postseason after averaging 46 per year in his first three seasons. Bratsen has good range in center field with 80 speed. He and has been an efficient basestealer in college. -
Bratsen is one of the fastest players and best center-field defenders available in the draft, which normally would make him a single-digit draft pick. But he's also draft-eligible as a 21-year-old sophomore and was hitting .228/.320/.285 entering the NCAA playoffs. He's capable of running the 60-yard dash in 6.3 seconds and is a threat to steal any time he gets on base, but he doesn't get on base enough. The 6-foot, 170-pounder needs a shorter righthanded swing and more discipline at the plate because he's never going to hit for power. He covers a tremendous amount of ground in center and has a solid arm that's better than most at his position.
