A high school quarterback, Schaaf offers an intriguing blend of athleticism, speed and projection as the top high school position player in a pitching-heavy Ohio crop. He ran the East Coast Pro 60-yard dash in 6.5 seconds, though his speed doesn't consistently play at that level out of the box. Most scouts believe he can stay in center field, especially as a multi-sport athlete with limited baseball experience, though others say his speed and athleticism don't translate well to center and he could move to a corner in the long term. His below-average arm would push him to left field. The lefthanded-hitting Schaaf has a good-looking stroke that is short to the baseball. He is an up-the-middle hitter with gap power who projects for more when he adds strength to his wiry 6-foot-1, 185-pound build. The Florida International commit is considered signable.
