Venters was Indian River CC's center fielder and closer, and the Braves were expected to sign him. He's improved his fastball into the 88-93 range with a quick arm and clean release. He's also shown a power breaking ball, and though he's athletic enough to command both pitches, his performance was inconsistent due in part to his inexperience on the mound.
