Miranda became the latest Cuban to sign with the Orioles when he came to terms in May 2015. He pitched seven seasons in Cuba, beginning his career at age 17. He went 22-25, 3.78 in Cuba's Serie Nacional, averaging 6.4 strikeouts and 3.5 walks per nine innings. Miranda made 14 starts in the Orioles system in 2015, with eight at Double-A Bowie, before ending the year on the disabled list with mild shoulder inflammation. Club officials called the move mostly precautionary and tied the down time to Miranda's reaching his innings limit. Miranda showed a fastball that sits between 90-92 mph and touches 94 out of an athletic, smooth and easy delivery. His split-finger fastball is a potential plus pitch that got swings and misses, as he really pounded it down in the zone. His changeup and slider are fringy. Miranda should return to the Double-A rotation to begin the 2016 season.
