Cade Fergus

Most players who will be picked on the third day of the draft are productive college players whose body of work is alluring, even if their tools are relatively modest. Fergus provides more upside than that along with some track record of production. He is a plus-plus runner with athleticism and plus raw power who has started in center field for George Washington for four seasons. In 2022 he hit .315/.405/.601 with 13 home runs and 11 stolen bases. A team picking Fergus will do so knowing the soon-to-be 22-year-old needs a lot of development at the plate. He’s somewhat of a guess hitter who can be induced to chase and doesn’t walk much. His raw power hasn’t played nearly as much in games yet, but it’s in there. Scouts see a well below-average hit tool, but everything else is impressive.
