He pitched in the low 90s last summer but has been up to 96 mph this spring, with two distinct breaking balls. There’s quite a bit of effort in Szczepanski’s delivery, with a stabbing and contorted arm action that could limit his command at the next level—he’s more scattered than precise with his strike-throwing currently—but he is a sound athlete and a former high school quarterback.
