A projection righthander with a lanky and loose, 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame, Izzi stood out to scouts during the fall of 2021 in Jupiter. At the event, he showed a fastball in the 90-93 mph range and touched 95 with scattered strikes and secondary stuff that showed glimpses but was still in the nascent stages. This spring Izzi has ticked up in the velocity department, with a fastball that has touched 96 and a slider that has shown more power in the 82-87 mph range with spin rates around 2,500 rpm. His changeup is also firmer than it was during the fall, going from a low-80s cambio to an 86-87 mph offering with 1,500 rpm spin. Izzi has long legs and arms and throws with an arm action that features plenty of length in the back, but he has a fast arm from a higher, three-quarter slot. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him regularly getting his fastball into the upper 90s in the next few years, though the consistency of his breaking ball remains a bigger question.
