Hall began his career at Appalachian State, where he pitched as a reliever for two seasons before transferring to South Carolina. In 2022 he was a full time starter for the Gamecocks and in 2023, he looked to take a step forward and posted a 3.29 ERA over seven starts and 41 innings, with a career-best 25.3% strikeout rate and 5.3% walk rate. Back issues prevented Hall from throwing more games and his last start of the season was on March 31 against Mississippi State, but Hall did enough in that time to make himself an intriguing senior sign. A 6-foot, 195-pound righthander, Hall throws from a three-quarters slot and has a low-maintenance operation with good hand speed. He sits in the 91-95 mph range with his fastball and will touch 96 and throws a low-80s changeup and mid-80s slider. The changeup is easily his best offering and generated a 55% whiff rate with 28% usage this spring. It’s a 70-grade pitch with extremely high spin rates and a tremendous amount of arm-side fading action and drop. It’s a true out pitch that is effective vs. righties and lefties and is one of the best cambios in the draft class. Hall’s slider is a shorter breaking pitch that also has high spin rates, but was used only 8% of the time. Hall’s medical will be a complicating factor, but he was a solid performer who is fairly ready made and could be a quick-mover if healthy.
