A 6-foot-1, 195-pound lefthanded reliever, McKeehan posted a 1.57 ERA through 23 innings with Brigham Young this spring. He uses a two-pitch mix featuring a fastball in the 88-92 mph range that gets up to 94 at peak as well as a hard, 12-to-6 curveball that mystified hitters this spring. He throws both pitches from a high, three-quarter arm slot and against the curveball this spring, opposing batters hit just .122/.159/.146 with a 64% whiff rate. Following the season with BYU, McKeehan pitched in the Cape Cod League with Orleans, and through his first 9.2 innings he didn’t allow a run, while striking out 13 batters and walking one. Throughout his college career, McKeehan has thrown below-average strikes (16.9 BB%), though scouts this spring have been complementary of his command and strike-throwing ability.
