Keisel has had an up-and-down college career after two full seasons. His freshman campaign with Brigham Young in 2022 was solid. He posted a 4.27 ERA as a split starter and reliever over 46.1 innings, but he took a step backward in 2023 after transferring to Oklahoma State. He pitched just 18.1 innings, again switching between a starter and reliever role, and posted a 7.85 ERA with much higher strikeout and walk rates compared to the year before. He followed that up with a solid summer in the Cape Cod League where he posted a 4.29 ERA in 21 innings, with 22% strikeout rate and 11% walk rate. A 6-foot-4, 208-pound righthander, Keisel throws from a sidearm slot and sits in the low 90s with his fastball, though he has run the pitch up to 97 at its best. Keisel’s fastball plays up significantly thanks to his low release height and excellent riding life on his four-seam fastball. He throws a four-seam and two-seam variation and also has a number of secondaries, though he primarily pitches off a low-80s slider and mid-80s changeup. He will occasionally throw a harder cut-slider in the upper 80s that has less sweeping shape than his normal slider but the softer breaking ball has been his most reliable bat-misser. Keisel has an intriguing pitch mix and unique release traits that make him an intriguing prospect, though teams will be more convinced if he can put together a strong 2024 spring season and throw more strikes.
