Yet another quality arm in Tennessee’s 2022 assembly line of relievers, Mabrey has struck out 64 batters and walked only 8 in 53 career innings at Tennessee. The 2022 season was easily his most significant role. His 29 appearances was second most on the team. Mabrey is a fastball/slider lefty reliever. His low-90s fastball has life and comes in from a flat plane. More importantly he has plus-plus control to spot it where he wants. Similarly, he throws his mid-80s average slider on and off the plate at will depending on the situation. Mabrey doesn’t light up a radar gun, but his ability to get ahead of hitters consistently and his ability to then finish them off makes him a useful late-round pick.
