Turley is among the toolsiest players in the 2022 class. He’s turned in double-plus run times in the 60-yard dash, he produced the third-best exit velocity (103 mph) in workouts at Perfect Game’s National showcase and he put on a show in batting practice at Area Code Games, with an in-game no-doubt homer to left for good measure. He showed impressive bat speed and extension, with easy plus power now. His home run at Area Codes was against an 89 mph fastball and came off his bat at 104 mph, with an estimated 429-foot distance. When Turley is making contact, he looks like a future star, but he has trouble making contact consistently. He’s shown a questionable approach and will expand the zone and make poor swing decisions, and he also needs to improve his contact and recognition of breaking stuff. Turley has also played a lot of corner outfield, which will make some teams skeptical, though he has more than enough speed to handle center field and has shown impressive jumps and athleticism as well. Turley is committed to Oregon State but has talent that fits among the top three rounds if a team thinks it can develop him as a hitter.

School: Oregon State Committed: D-backs ’22 (19)
Age At Draft: 21.7
Turley is perhaps the toolsiest player in the 2025 class. He received interest within the first two rounds of the draft coming out of high school, but instead honored his commitment to Oregon State. Turley endured an up-and-down freshman season. He homered in his first career game and hit .362 through March 7, but by May 5 his average plummeted to just .227. However, he finished the season as one of the hottest hitters in the country and wound up with a .309/.438/.664 slash line with 14 home runs in 44 games. Turley spent his summers with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod League. Turley boasts an athletic frame at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds. He has an explosive operation in the box with double-plus bat speed and an active lower half. Turley creates leverage to the pull side, and he has plus power that he has no issue getting to in games. Turley’s hit tool needs to take a sizable step forward in order to maximize his immense upside. Last year, he ran an overall contact rate of just 60% and especially struggled to pick up secondary offerings. Defensively, Turley has a plus arm and his athleticism and plus speed both translate well to the outfield. Don’t be surprised if in the future he slides from left field to right, where his arm will certainly play. In 2024, though, he should again hold down left field with both Micah McDowell (.342/.428/.509) and Brady Kasper (.304/.400/.558) both back. Should it all click at the dish, Turley has top-10 upside. -
