Brooks has been a key piece for John Savage’s pitching staff since he was a true freshman in 2021. He’s always had solid strikeout and walk numbers, but after 159 career innings and 27 starts, he has a 4.92 career ERA with a 22% strikeout rate and 5.1% walk rate. Brooks has a low-maintenance operation and throws from a mid, three-quarter slot. His fastball will sit in the 88-91 mph range and touch 92 with natural arm-side run and his 80 mph changeup, although it has a low miss rate, has tons of fade and is a pitch he’s comfortable throwing to both righthanded and lefthanded hitters. Brooks also features a shorter slider that acts like a cutter. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound righthander has above-average command of all three offerings, so he could profile as a back-of-the-rotation starter if he adds a bit more power in pro ball. He could be a late day two or day three draft pick.
