From Honolulu, Hawaii, Souza developed a reputation as one of the most advanced hitters in the 2023 prep class as an underclassman. Listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Souza has a lean and strong frame with room for more strength in the future. He has a quiet and direct swing from the left side of the plate and has shown solid plate coverage overall, though he swung and missed a bit more than expected over the 2022 summer showcase circuit. At his best Souza shows an impressive ability to drive the ball to the opposite field, left-center gap. A shortstop now, Souza could be a better fit for either second or third base, and there’s a chance he moves to the outfield in the future as well. He is committed to Arkansas and is on the younger side of the class.
