Track Record: The Reds acquired Lantigua from the Dodgers’ in a mid-January trade that sent the Dodgers’ international bonus pool allotments to help sign Roki Sasaki and the rest of the Dodgers’ 2025 international class. In his second season in the Dominican Summer League, Lantigua finished tied for second in the league with 11 home runs.

Scouting Report: Lantigua manages to blend top-tier power potential with solid plate discipline and bat-to-ball skills. He was a bit old for the league as a two-year DSL player, but he was a solid performer in 2023 as well. In his return, he improved his contact ability and cut his strikeout rate. He’s ready to come to the U.S. and get challenged by more advanced pitching. There remain concerns about how well his hit tool projects as he advances, but he could be a productive player as a below-average hitter with plus productive power. He’s a right fielder with an above-average arm.

The Future: The Reds sent an intriguing outfield prospect (Mike Sirota) to the Dodgers in the Gavin Lux trade. Acquiring Lantigua gives them back a similarly interesting prospect who could blossom into a regular if everything clicks.
