Martin last year was one of a handful of freshmen who made an immediate impact for the Bruins. He posted a .304/.388/.455 line with 11 extra-base hits and 22 RBIs. He carried his performance over to this spring and was a key cog within this year’s College World Series squad, slashing .316/.450/.502 with 15 doubles and nine home runs. He has a fairly direct swing featuring a slight barrel tip and some bat speed. Martin fares well against fastballs, though secondaries have been a particular bugaboo. He has some present impact, especially to the pull side, and he added strength since last year, which yieled improved batted-ball data. Martin posted a 90th percentile exit velocity of 104.5 mph and multiple batted balls north of 110. Added aggression against pitches in his "go zone" should only help Martin. He makes the plays he should over at third base and has enough arm strength to potentially stick at the position.
