Lewis started his career at Mississippi State before heading to Chipola (Fla.) JC, where he hit .312 with 15 home runs. He continued to show impressive in-game power in 2023 with Troy and finished as one of the nation’s top home run hitters with 27, good for fourth in the country, and slashed .286/.436/.705 with a 29.3% strikeout rate and 16.1% walk rate. Lewis has effortless power from both sides of the plate, and was a solid performer as both a lefty and righty hitter. Of the national home run leaders, Troy’s average stands out for being quite low and speaks to the amount of swing-and-miss in his game, as does his strikeout rate and overall contact rate of just 63%, which is a well below-average number—especially for a corner profile. Troy has played both right and left field but most of his playing time came in left field this spring. The 6-foot-2, 194-pound outfielder is a fine runner in a corner and is capable of making a highlight-reel diving catch, but his routes, closing speed and instincts could be improved.
