Aoki is a 6-foot, 195-pound pitchability righthander who started his career at Notre Dame and transferred to Southern California for the 2023 season where he pitched to a 2.98 ERA in 63.1 innings with a 19.5% strikeout rate and 7.5% walk rate. Aoki won’t blow a fastball by anyone—he pitches in the upper 80s and will touch 90-91—but he commands the ball at a great level and mixes in a slurvy breaking ball that blends in shape between a slider and curve around 80 mph and also has feel for a tumbling low-80s changeup. There’s not much projection on Aoki’s frame, so it’ s uncertain how much velocity he can still add which will be key for his pro chances but there’s a strong baseline of pitchability to work with here.
