School: Dallas Baptist Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.8
BA Grade: 45/High
Jay has an ultra-physical build at 6-feet, 225 pounds and translates that well to his style of play. A bruiser at the plate with near double-plus raw power, Jay hit .309/.437/.655 with 19 home runs, 17 doubles, a triple and 14 stolen bases as a junior in 2025. He finished the year as Dallas Baptist’s all-time leader in home runs. Jay has ample hand speed with elite strength in his forearms and wrists, making him a premium power threat, especially for a backstop. However, his swing can get stiff and long at times. His approach can also get quite aggressive. As a result, Jay is capable of impressive exit velocities but also below-average chase (27%) and zone contact (80%) rates. Despite his stockier frame, Jay is a good athlete who moves well and has decent skills behind the plate. He’ll have a chance to stick there with a strong arm but will need significant refinement as a receiver and blocker to avoid moving to first base or a corner outfield spot. Jay’s power is an appealing tool for any team who believes he can stick at catcher. Those clubs could view him as a 3-5 round talent.
Scouting Grades: Hit: 40 | Power: 55 | Run:50 | Field: 40 | Arm: 55.

Jay has an ultra-physical build at 5-foot-11 and 218 pounds. His physicality translates to his style of play, and this spring he hit .301/.414/.653 while crushing 12 doubles and 21 home runs. Jay has plenty of hand speed at the plate with tons of strength in his forearms and wrists. However, his swing can get stiff and long at times. Jay will really need to clean up his swing-and-miss in order to maximize his offensive upside. He moves well for his size and his catching skills have steadily improved over the last two seasons.
