School: Florida Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.8
Donay is a hulking catcher and righthanded hitter with a massive 6-foot-5, 235-pound frame and some of the most exciting raw power in the class. He started his career at Virginia Tech and transferred to Florida in 2024. A slight mechanical adjustment that saw him widen his base and alter his handset preceded a career year in 2025. Donay hit .303/.418/.646 with 18 home runs, 10 doubles and career-best 25.2% strikeout and 11.8% walk rates. Donay recorded a 91.2 mph average exit velocity and 50% hard-hit rate. While he has premium raw power, he’s an aggressive free-swinger with real contact questions. Donay recorded a 35.1% chase rate and an alarmingly low 63.2% overall contact rate in 2025. Donay’s defensive profile is similarly polarizing. He has double-plus arm strength but is slow to get out his stance and grades as a below average receiver and blocker. He spent as much time as Florida’s designated hitter as catcher and is a strong risk to move to either first base or right field at the next level if he can’t make considerable refinements to his operation. Donay offers teams two premium tools in his arm and power but is well below average in nearly every other category. The positives should keep him within the top-10 rounds, though.
