School: LSU Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.3
Frey made the back of the BA 500 out of high school as a power-oriented catcher who was already 6-foot-4 at the time. He helped lead his Rosepine (La.) High team to a pair of state titles, then was a part of an LSU team that won two national championships. He was a centerpiece of the LSU lineup in 2025, when he hit .331/.420/.641 with 13 home runs and 15 doubles. Now listed at 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, Frey is an imposing look in the righthanded batters box with plenty of strength and raw power. He’s a patient hitter with enough pop to homer to all fields, and as a junior did a nice job making contact against all pitch types with a big swing that can get lengthy at times. There’s plenty of pressure on Frey’s hit/power combination because he has real defensive questions. A vast majority of his time at LSU came at the DH spot and he dealt with a torn labrum throughout the 2024 season that required surgery after the season, and also necessitated some tweaks to his swing mechanics. Because of that and his size, many scouts think he’s destined for first base or a DH job in pro ball. He is a solid athlete and average runner who might move around well enough to handle an outfield corner. Before his labrum issue he had shown plus raw arm strength.

School: Rosepine (La.) HS Committed/Drafted: Louisiana State
Age At Draft: 18.4
It’s highly likely that Frey will make it to Louisiana State to join a loaded roster, but it’s worth remembering the name, as he has a very interesting combination of present power and athleticism. A high school catcher, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder is likely to outgrow the position. Frey led his Rosepine (La.) HS team to back-to-back state 2A titles. This year he hit .487 with 13 home runs and also picked up five wins with a 0.77 ERA. He has a plus arm and plus-plus raw power.
