Age At Draft: 18.6
Lauridsen is a tall and projectable righthander with fastball traits and a body to dream on. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds and has plenty of room to add more strength in the coming years. Lauridsen throws with a bit of effort and a head whack in his finish, but has solid arm speed from a high three-quarters slot. Lauridsen throws his fastball in the low 90s and will run the pitch up to 94-95 mph at peak velocity. The shape of the pitch is more exciting than the power, with great riding life that should allow it to miss bats at a solid clip. It would also be unsurprising for his velocity to continue ticking up. Lauridsen has a trio of secondaries. His most frequently used is a mid-70s curveball with solid depth, but he’ll also mix in a harder slider in the 79-83 mph range and a low-80s changeup. There’s some reliever risk with Lauridsen considering his delivery, but he has the ingredients to profile as a starter with more development. Lauridsen is committed to USC.
