Coombs is a broad-shouldered, high-level multi-sport athlete who’s committed to Maryland for both baseball and football. He’s a three-star running back according to 247Sports and has big upside on the baseball field as a power/speed outfielder. Listed at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, Coombs is a righthanded hitter and thrower who has lots of present physicality. He has above-average raw power and plus speed that should give him a chance to stick in center field in the long run, but Coombs does have significant hit tool questions. His swing can get steep at times and his performance on the showcase circuit was hit-or-miss over the last year, although he had a powerful senior spring in Maryland.
