  A Washington native at IMG Academy in Florida, Hemenway checks a lot of boxes scouts look for between his hitting ability, shortstop skills and all-around instincts. He hits with good rhythm and balance, keeping his head locked in to help him track pitches with a sharp eye for the strike zone. His swing is short, quick and efficient, and he stays through the middle of the field with a line-drive approach to barrel pitches throughout the zone with little swing-and-miss. A wiry shortstop, Hemenway has room to layer more strength on to his frame. He doesn’t project as a huge power threat, but he makes frequent quality contact with his ability to barrel balls consistently. The offensive components are there to be a high-on base threat with a likely hit-over-power profile. A fringe-average runner, Hemenway isn’t a burner, but at shortstop he’s a quick athletic mover. He has a bouncy first step, good range, body control and instincts.
