A Washington native now at IMG Academy in Florida, Hemenway checks a lot of boxes scouts look for between his hitting ability and shortstop skills. He hits with good rhythm and balance, keeping his head locked in to help him track pitches with a sharp eye for the strike zone. His swing is short, quick and efficient, staying through the middle of the field with a line-drive approach, and he has a knack for barreling pitches throughout the zone with little swing-and-miss. Hemenway has the offensive components to be a high on-base threat in what will likely be a hit-over-power profile, though he has flashed power on occasion and should grow into more extra-base damage as he fills out his wiry frame. Hemenway is quick and athletic at shortstop, where he has a bouncy first step, good range and instincts.
