Wideman parlayed a standout two-year stint at Georgia Highlands College into an opportunity at Western Kentucky, where he immediately became the Hilltoppers’ everyday center fielder and produced at a level few college players have matched in recent years. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound righthanded hitter finished his junior season with a .398/.466/.652 slash line, 10 home runs, 20 doubles, six triples, and 45 stolen bases—making him the only Division I player since at least 2002 to hit 10 or more homers, five or more triples, 20-plus doubles, and steal 45-plus bases in the same season. Wideman employs a big, drawn out leg kick at the plate and largely produces on-time swings and impressive impact when he connects, with plus raw power and a 90th percentile exit velocity of 107 mph. Wideman has modest results against 93+ mph velocity, but also faced an average fastball velocity just under 90 mph with Western Kentucky in 2025. He’s an aggressive hitter who expands the zone at an extremely high rate and likes to swing the bat. He will need to either improve his approach or contact skills to find consistent results at the next level. Wideman is a tremendous athlete with an elite big league frame and plus speed that should give him a chance to stick in center field with average arm strength. He entered the transfer portal after the 2025 season and committed to Clemson if he chooses to return to college, but has the talent to go in the first five rounds.
