Age At Draft: 18.5
BA Grade: 50/Extreme
Gray is a standout multisport athlete with some of the best pure arm speed and overall arm talent in the 2025 class. He’s also an unrefined pitcher who needs plenty of polish before he can fully capitalize on that upside. Listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Gray works from the first base side of the rubber and features a high leg kick and deep arm action before exploding down the mound with a low three-quarters slot. He throws a fastball that consistently sits in the mid 90s with hard sinking life that has touched 99 mph this spring. The pitch has the power, spin and movement traits to become a 70-grade offering, but he often doesn’t have a great idea of where it’s going with well below-average command. Gray also has the potential to develop an above-average breaking ball. Previously a slurvy offering in the upper 70s, Gray now throws a hard mid-80s slider that flashes impressive late turn, though he will often get around the pitch and let it back up to his arm side. He also has a mid-80s changeup that, like the rest of his arsenal, is currently in the nascent stages of development. Gray is a high-risk, high-reward upside play who could take some time to develop. Because of that, he is a polarizing prospect for MLB teams. He’s committed to NC State.
Scouting Grades: Fastball: 65 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 40 | Control: 40.
