After starting his career at Sacramento City JC, McClaughry established himself as Arizona’s starting shortstop over the last three years. He stands out most for his glove and this spring was named Pac-12 defensive player of the year. Listed at 5-foot-9, 159 pounds, he’s never going to hit for much power, but he’s a patient hitter with solid bat-to-ball skills. This spring he slashed .325/.429/.467 with four home runs, 12 doubles, a 12.4% strikeout rate and 12.1% walk rate. He’ll turn 24 in September.
