School: Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit HS Age At Draft: 18.9
Committed: Florida State
Righthander Doug Waechter pitched in six big league seasons in the 2000s, mostly with Tampa Bay. His son, Kaden, is a promising righthander in the 2026 high school class. He has a balanced, under control delivery, advanced pitchability for his age and throws strikes at a high clip, giving him a starter look. He pitches off a fastball that can touch 95 mph and has a projectable 6-foot-3 frame that points to more velocity still to come. It’s a lively fastball that Waechter controls well to both sides of the plate. He can get whiffs with a mid-80s slider in the 2,400-2,700 rpm that he’s added more power to and has feel to land in the strike zone. Waechter has flashed feel for a mid-80s changeup, but his fastball and slider are his best pitches. -
