At 6-foot-8, Lord stands out for his extremely tall, projectable frame. He already has some of the best velocity in the class with a fastball that has touched 97 mph from his three-quarters slot. With his arm speed and physical upside, he could potentially throw triple digits. As an underclassman, Lord had a fastball-heavy attack, but he has become more effective mixing in a mid-to-upper 70s curveball that he shows feel to spin in the 2,500-2,700 rpm range. Lord will flash a rare changeup, but it’s behind the rest of his repertoire. For any teenage pitcher his size, it will always be a challenge to sync up his long levers to repeat his release point for consistent strikes. However, Lord has a good delivery and arm action, and as he’s gotten stronger, he has shown promising signs this summer of being able to execute his pitches in the strike zone. -
